Never Again - No Magic Here

Please, PLEASE read the restaurant description before eating at this restaurant. IMHO, you no one should eat here at all. The website says that this restaurant has "good eatin' served with attitude" and "Cast Members who have a reputation for sassing customers." I have never understood restaurants where the wait staff are openly rude to customers, and I actively avoid them. It was my mistake to come here, and I will never do so again.

I am a huge Disney fan, with over 10 trips to Disney World, 2 trips to Disneyland, 3 Disney cruises, and we were in Orlando for this trip to go on the Star Wars Galactic Star Cruiser Adventure. Leaving the incredible service on the Halcyon to have breakfast here was a culture shock to say the least. The magical light of Disney, which I try to carry around with me all year round, was temporarily dimmed by this experience.

On arriving at the restaurant, I was a little surprised that the hostesses were a bit dismissive of our group, especially since it was early in the morning and there were not many people in the restaurant yet. However, it's the morning, and everyone needs time to wake up, so I didn't think much of it.

Our group of five was seated at a small table for 4 rather than the larger table for 6, which felt a bit cramped. When we asked if it would be possible to be moved to the larger table, our server (who remains unnamed because it's not his fault that Disney makes him do his job this way), looked around at all the open tables and said, "Nope."

He got our drink orders wrong - not sure if this was part of the bit or not. When we asked for straws, he threw them all over the table instead of handing them to us. We saw another table who asked for napkins, and their server also threw them all over the table instead of placing them on the table.

When taking our order, my sister, who is a vegetarian, asked if there were any alternatives to the turkey sausage that came with her order, and he responded, "What do you want instead?" She asked what they had, and he said, "I don't know, what do you want?" Flustered, she responded, "How about toast?" He sneered at her, "Toast?" She told him never mind, and just not to bring her anything else. I found this outrageous that he was food-shaming her.

When our food was brought out by another server, the server asked if we needed anything else. My sister asked for an extra biscuit (this is an all-you-can-eat place), and the server responded, "Why are you asking me?"

During the meal, our server would breeze by every now and again and ask, "Everything all right, here?" but would not even pause in his stride to wait for any kind of response. Later, he told us if we had any questions, we should go to the front desk or use Google.

When we asked for ketchup, apparently you have to scream for the ketchup and since "all their ketchup has to travel together" they piled every bottle in the restaurant onto our already very cramped table. Then if another table screams for ketchup, our table is responsible for carrying all the ketchup bottles over to them. This was ridiculous and made no sense to me. In a post-COVID world, I also found this grossly unsanitary. The tiny little two year old child, who was very sweetly trying to bring us all the ketchup bottles from his table was adorable, but dropping the ketchup bottles all over the ground, sneezing on them, and otherwise making sure I had no intention of using any of that ketchup.

At one point, a server brought a girl up to the front of the room and called for the room's attention. Announcing that it was her birthday and that she was getting a free cupcake, I was thinking that this was very nice. However, he then smashed the cupcake in front of her and ordered her to eat just the icing back at her table. I'm a full-grown adult, and I'm confident that I would have lost it if someone had done that to me. I felt so bad for her.

To be fair, the Wilderness Lodge is beautiful, and the food was pretty good, so this place has lovely ambiance and food quality going for it. It was clean and located conveniently in the main part of the hotel.

But someone from Disney has apparently decided that a "country" theme means hillbillies with no manners. As someone who grew up in a more rural part of Virginia, I am personally offended whenever I see this, and I'm extremely disappointed with Disney for perpetuating this prejudicial viewpoint. I STRONGLY recommend that everyone stop going to this restaurant immediately, so Disney can re-think their approach here.

Their online booking system is terrible! We had planned a beach vacation for a year, and their people cancelled our reservation without an email or a call. Very unprofessional, and unwilling to work out any kind of solution. I will be booking through Sandbridge Realty from now on.

Jackie was great - she was very meticulous. I really felt like I was getting my money's worth, and in comparison to other NYC prices, this was a real steal.

This was not worth the money at all - the driver and ride was overall a nightmare. The driver actually showed up and got us home. That is the only positive thing I can say about this experience.

The driver appeared to have no respect for traffic lanes - he really enjoyed taking up two lanes. He swerved unexpectedly, braked excessively, and was completely reliant on his GPS - did not seem to know the basics of getting to/from the airport. He did not offer us water until I asked. He did not open doors.

We paid for the "meet and greet" service at the airport, but he told us to get our own bags and call him when we were ready. We wandered out to the passenger pick-up area since we didn't know what else to do, where he eventually found us and then walked us to an entirely different level of the airport where he had parked. He offered to help my husband with his bags, but did not address me at all.

I will never use this service again.

Great deal for $10 - I got three good sized meatballs (the classic style) over marscapone polenta and a salad of figs and goat cheese. Very yummy and much healthier than I was expecting when I first walked up to a meatball truck. And yes, I only went there because the name made me smile, but it was worth it! And the meatball guy was extremely friendly and funny and went above and beyond - he jumped out of the truck to deliver my food and chased me down the sidewalk to give me a buy 10 - get the 11th free cards.
