Rasa Express

It's a nice little surprise this place. The 'express' part of Rasa is actually at the back of the Charlotte Street restaurant, which gives it a rather nice dodgy back street feel to it.


Lunch is simple. A choice of one veg meal, or two meat options. In this, you get a tray of yummy food to take away with you - we got a birayani (pilau rice with lamb), daal, paratha, veggie curry, and some yummy onion stuff as well. There was even a tiny little dessert. It sounds like a lot of food, but it was the perfect amount to fill you up without being too heavy. As the food is already prepared, you just go in and choose the tray you want. The fastest food I've ever had in this area!


The best part? It was only four quid. The veggie option was three fifty.


I'm only giving Rasa three stars though because the food itself wasn't that brilliant. I like the idea, but it was a lot of sauce and not much substance. Although, I'm pretty sure that as they change the dishes each day, some days might be better than others. I'll come back and try it again next time I'm in the mood for curry.

Not as amazing as its sister restaurants, I still love this one!


Designed more for take-aways than a proper restaurant, there aren't many seats inside, but you will still have a good meal!


The food is decently priced, and it really good quality, they do superb vegetarian dishes which are alot more imaginative than other restaurants veg dishes!


If you can, I also advise you to go and visit a proper restaurant of Rasa's chain, as it will be even more enjoyable!

Cheap lunch! Not nearly as good as regular Rasa, but tons of food for a few quid.

Rasa Express is the takeaway section of the Rasa Rasa Samudra Keralan restaurant located on Charlotte Street. The meat options is £4 and the veggie option just £3.50 (choose from rice, one of three curries and the meal comes with a mini dessert too) and there is plenty in a box to keep you full for the rest of the day should you venture down there in your lunch hour.
