This hotel bills itself as a 4-star but it's actually a 2- star at a 4-star cost. That's not the worst of it. We actually had a booking at the Whitehall, but we were moved weeks before arrival to this hotel by the management company. It feels like a total bait and switch. The hotel is very outdated. It's hot and stuffy. We found a loud fan in one side of the wardrobe. And there's a strange little kitchen in the other side. We are stuck as they demanded payment up front. We do not recommend.

if you like rude staff running an ugly hotel, this is for you. The place has not been painted in years, its covered in ugly old carpeting and it's dingy. The rooms could be nice but they are presently shabby. They have a bar with no comfortable seating. It looks like a bus station waiting area. The staff are not only rude and surly, they are incompetent. There is a garden but it is covered in fake grass. Other guests were also displeased. The price is good. That's about all I can say.

My rating has less to do with the hotel but more with the manner in which I made reservations. The website, which I thought was the hotel, would not allow me to make a cancellation after I learned my travel plans had changed. There was a total unwillingness to try to work out some other arrangement. I paid for 2 nights without stepping foot in the country. I'm surprised and disappointed that the hotel uses this type of website. I believe Expedia or any number of others might have taken better care of potential customers. When making your reservations, be certain you will be able to stay here or book somewhere else. Buyer beware!

Our experience here was mixed. The rooms are clean but smaller than they appear on the website. We did not have air conditioning and it did get warm. They do have a fan in the room but you must leave the window open or it will get hot, but then some bugs do make it inside. The lobby was not the cleanest and they really ought dust the elevator area--especially given it is a glass elevator. The service was mixed as some employees did not seem the most informed. It wouldn't be our first choice if returning to the area, but it was not a bad experience overall.

You can fall out of your bed and practically land in the British Museum here. Seriously, the Grange White Hall Hotel is incredibly well-located for exploring nearby Bloomsbury Square, Soho, the University of London, and lots of other places in the central city.
The breakfast buffet is tasty and filling, the elevator is quite the showpiece, and the hotel pub is cozy and well-stocked with beer, wine, and spirits. The staff were also very solicitous and well-informed about places to visit in Central London. Rooms are small but well-maintained, with large windows, decent bathrooms, and overall a nice atmosphere for a restored, historic sort of place. It's also very near to the German Historical Institute, which is the reason my wife and I stayed here on a recent trip to London. But even if were paying for the room, we would have enjoyed our stay!
Note: I mistakenly reviewed another nearby hotel, the George Hotel near Russell Square, when I meant to do the Grange. I have since double-checked my travel itinerary and made the correction! The George may be very nice, too, but we never stayed there.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - CM P.Filadelfia, Estados Unidos66365327730 de ene de 2012
I can imagine this place being severely uncomfortable in the summer, with its lack of controlled temperature in their rooms, but when I was here in the fall, it was perfect. I love the location, the museum around the corner, the friendly staff... even if it doesn't have in-room safes, going next door to store my valuables when I was out was the biggest inconvenience, and I didn't even mind that so much.
They also offer some great toiletries, and I appreciate that!
The staff was SUPER nice, and I really appreciate that as well.
Note: I didn't get to try the in-house food.
I will be returning here, just perhaps not in the summer months.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mango L.Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos4811215 de mar de 2016
Good boutique hotel, perfectly located close to British museum and shopping. 15-20 min walk or 7 min by car to Soho and china town. A little bit tiny hallways, but rooms are decent size, not big and not too small. The decoration and interior is beautifully done. I don't recommend getting breakfast there as its expensive and doesn't really worth the money. Staff are calm and decently helpful. I am giving it 4 starts just because of the overpriced breakfast and not willingness to work out a deal with their guests. We stayed there about a week (3 rooms) and day before our check out we realized we have to stay in London an extra day, so we asked them to extend our rooms but they said they are completely booked and can't accommodate one more night for us. Though they offered us another hotel from their hotel chain but for much bigger price than we paid for our rooms. So we had to find another decently priced hotel, pack out stuff and move out. It was very inconvenient since we had an early morning work in another part of the city. Good thing they let us store our luggage at the hotel till we pick it up later in the day. Beside those things it was a pleasant experience staying there.
