You know the drill, you see a queue around the block and think, "this place must be good" and join the line. At first we didn't even know what we were queuing for! When we got near we realised it was cake, this makes me happy. We bought a selection of 'merveilleux' which are like little meringues delicately filled. The service was exceptional with the staff working efficiently and in such a friendly manner to serve people quickly. The merveilleux weren't overly sweet which is amazing considering they were like mini meringues! They were beautiful with amazing flavour and I wish I had bought more to bring home, no matter how bashed they would have ended up. Exquisitive and a must visit if you are in the area of the Wazemmes Market.

Not blown away from the super-cute domes of chocolatey goodness.

I first heard about this shop on David Lebovitz's blog so I had to stop by during my short stop in Lille. The woman who helped us was very nice and super patient especially because my French was horrible. I don't have a big sweet tooth so these were perfect because they weren't too sugary. I had the petite version (€1.30) of the Merveilleux (dark chocolate) and Incroyable (speculoos) because the large version (€2.90) looked the size of a baseball and I thought it might be too much. Both were amazing! Definitely make a stop if you're in the city.
